Casemiro turned a cross into his own net in the seventh minute. Lionel Messi came on in the 56th but Miami could not find a way back, and Emil Forsberg, on as a substitute in the 85th, lifted the second over Dayne St. Clair in the first minute of stoppage time from Cameron Harper's pass. Ethan Horvath made two saves for his fifth clean sheet of the season.
The result keeps Michael Bradley's Red Bulls (11-14-6) above the playoff line, CBS New York reports. Miami (15-6-10) had won their previous three games.
