The rules for using GoalPost, what our content is (and isn't), and how we handle mistakes.
Agreement to terms
By using GoalPost (the-goalpost.com), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. We may update these Terms from time to time; the date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
What GoalPost provides
GoalPost is an independent football discovery and intelligence platform: match schedules and results, standings, club/player/coach reference pages, and proprietary editorial features built on top of licensed sports data — including GPR (GoalPost Power Rating), GPS (GoalPost Player Score), match predictions, and Fair Market Value (FMV) estimates. See our Methodology page for how these are built.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, systematically extract, or republish GoalPost’s proprietary ratings, predictions, or valuations (GPR, GPS, FMV) as your own or as another product’s data;
- attempt to bypass rate limits, security controls, or otherwise interfere with the normal operation of the site;
- use automated means to place an abnormal load on GoalPost’s servers or API-backed routes;
- misrepresent GoalPost content as officially licensed by any club, league, federation, or player; or
- use the site for any unlawful purpose.
We may suspend or restrict access for anyone who violates these terms.
Not betting, financial, or professional advice
GoalPost’s predictions, ratings (GPR, GPS), and valuations (FMV) are statistical estimates provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. They are not betting advice, financial or investment advice, or a guarantee of any outcome. Any betting-related links or content on GoalPost are subject to the operator’s own terms, and to the gambling laws and minimum age requirements of your jurisdiction — if gambling is a concern for you or someone you know, contact the National Problem Gambling Helpline (1-800-522-4700) or your local equivalent.
“As-is” content
Match data, statistics, and editorial content (including AI-assisted match previews, recaps, and milestone narratives — see Methodology) are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Sports data can be revised by official sources after the fact (a stat correction, a VAR-driven event change); GoalPost updates to reflect that without separate notice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GoalPost is not liable for any decision made in reliance on content on this site.
Corrections policy
We distinguish between two kinds of errors:
- Source data updates. Scores, stats, and events sometimes get revised by our data provider after publication (a late VAR overturn, a corrected assist). We pull these updates in as part of normal operation — this isn’t treated as an editorial “correction” since GoalPost didn’t get the underlying fact wrong, the source record changed.
- Editorial corrections. When GoalPost’s own written commentary, a rating explanation, or a claim we generated turns out to be wrong or misleading given the data available at the time, we correct it once verified. Where practical, a noticeably wrong claim is corrected rather than quietly deleted.
If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us at corrections@the-goalpost.com with a link to the page and what looks off. We can’t promise a specific turnaround time, but every report gets looked at.
Intellectual property
GoalPost’s own content — site design, the GoalPost name and logo, GPR/GPS/FMV methodologies and the specific numbers they produce, and original editorial text — is owned by GoalPost or its licensors. Underlying match, team, and player statistics are licensed from our data provider and remain subject to that provider’s own rights. Club crests, competition logos, and player likenesses belong to their respective owners and are used for identification/reference purposes. You may share links to GoalPost pages and reasonably brief excerpts with attribution; you may not republish GoalPost’s proprietary ratings or bulk-copy site content without permission.
Third-party links
GoalPost links to third-party sites, including affiliate partners (see Affiliate Disclosure), official club/league sites, and social platforms. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those sites.
Availability
GoalPost is provided on an “as available” basis without an uptime guarantee. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms as the product changes. Continued use of GoalPost after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
