Trey Nyoni gave Liverpool the lead in the 25th minute with a deflected volley, his first professional goal, Sky Sports reports. Mason Greenwood's free kick, deflected off Jeremy Jacquet, made it 1–1 four minutes later. Substitute Isak headed in Cody Gakpo's cross in the 69th minute with his first touch.
Archie Brown equalized in the 73rd minute after a mix-up between Gakpo and Alisson, and Vedat Muriqi headed the winner six minutes later. It was Fenerbahçe's first Champions League win of the season, under interim coach Dirk Kuyt, and Liverpool's first defeat in the competition. Iraola said: "Cheap goals. Messy goals."
