Borussia Mönchengladbach won 3–2 at VfB Stuttgart on Friday night, their first Bundesliga win of the season after six straight defeats.

Ermedin Demirović put Stuttgart ahead in the fifth minute with a shot from distance that slipped over Moritz Nicolas's hand. Joe Scally leveled in the 38th, and Gladbach took over after the break: Wael Mohya beat two defenders and set up Shuto Machino in the 51st, then headed in the third himself in the 66th after Scally's effort came back off the post. Demirović headed in Jamie Leweling's cross in the 83rd, too late to matter.

Sportschau reports that Alexander Blessin was without eleven players and filled his squad from the reserve team. Gladbach stay bottom on three points; Sebastian Hoeneß's Stuttgart, who made six changes after their Champions League draw with Atlético Madrid, have lost five of seven and sit 14th.
