Everton beat Newcastle 1–0 at St James' Park on Monday in the ninth round of the Premier League.
Thierno Barry scored in the 49th minute. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall took a free kick quickly, Tyrique George's shot squirmed under goalkeeper Lukas Horníček, and Barry tapped in the rebound, Sky Sports reports. Matthias Jaissle said the goal should have been ruled out for an elbow on Fabian Schär. Substitute Jacob Ramsey was shown two yellow cards within 86 seconds in stoppage time.
It was David Moyes's side's first away league win of the season, and it lifts them to seventh. Newcastle, booed at halftime and full time, drop to 13th. They have lost four of their last five games in all competitions, including a 3–1 Carabao Cup defeat at home to Everton four days earlier, Sky Sports reports.
