Brighton beat Manchester City 1–0 at the Etihad on Saturday, three days after City knocked them out of the League Cup on penalties.
Yasin Ayari scored in the 11th minute. Matheus Nunes misjudged a long free kick at the back post, and Maxim De Cuyper put it across for Ayari to finish, Sportschau reports. Bart Verbruggen made several late saves to keep the lead.
City won their first seven league games and have now lost two straight, after a 2–1 defeat at Aston Villa last week. They stay top on 21 points, two ahead of third-placed Brighton. Arsenal go top if they avoid defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.
