SV Elversberg beat Mainz 4–1 at home on Friday night to open the eighth round of the Bundesliga.

Felix Keidel scored from a free kick in the seventh minute, Francis Onyeka added the second from David Mokwa's pass, and Maurice Krattenmacher made it 3–0 in first-half stoppage time.
