Brighton beat Crystal Palace 5–0 at the Amex on Sunday. Jaydee Canvot headed Pascal Gross's free kick into his own net in the fourth minute. Three minutes later Diego Gómez saw Walter Benítez off his line and scored first time from around the halfway line. Yasin Ayari made it 3–0 in the 10th minute.
Charalampos Kostoulas added the fourth early in the second half after a VAR check for handball, and substitute Jack Hinshelwood scored the fifth in the 84th minute. Fabian Hürzeler's side have 16 points from seven games and are third, per Eurosport.
Palace are 14th with two wins from seven, and lost 3–2 at Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday, Eurosport reports. Sage, who joined from Lens in the summer, took the blame: "I prepare the team, so I'm responsible for what happened on the pitch," he said, per the News Shopper. Asked whether he would get time to turn it around, he said he did not know.
