“Shot-stopper with the reflexes of a man half his age.”

GoalPost read
David de Gea remains a valuable veteran goalkeeper: his Manchester United spell defined his sustained level, and his Fiorentina form showed he still delivers. The price softens for league level and a career past its usual peak window.

Analysis overview
De Gea operates as a traditional, reactive goalkeeper—explosive off his line when needed, but fundamentally a last-resort guardian who lives in the moment. His strength lies in sudden, instinctive saves rather than sweeping or distribution; he reads the shot late but compensates with remarkable hand speed and positioning that still catches strikers off guard.
