Matías Pellegrini (Velez Sarsfield), rated 8.4
Vélez Sarsfield had the game, and only a point to show for it. Matías Pellegrini drove the first-half spell, setting up Juan Policella in the 22nd minute and then making it 2-0 himself three minutes later after Vélez had spent most of the opening half on top and creating the clearer chances. San Lorenzo had hardly threatened before A. Cuello pulled one back in first-half stoppage time from Rodrigo Auzmendi’s assist, then Auzmendi leveled it in the 81st minute to leave Vélez staring at the same scoreline they had looked set to manage out. Pellegrini was the match’s best player by some distance, the one who kept the home side moving and gave them both goals. A flat return for Vélez, and a point apiece in the end.
