União de Leiria had the better of it from the start and kept AVS pinned back for long stretches. Hiago Santos gave AVS the lead in the 26th minute against the run of play, but Pablo Fernández leveled in the 73rd after União de Leiria had spent most of the night on the front foot and around the box. The pressure kept building, and in the 86th minute Rodrigo Pinho turned it into his own net, the finish that settled a game AVS had rarely threatened to control.
