Keisuke Goto changed everything for SC Freiburg. They had more of the ball and the clearer chances from the start, and Igor Matanović’s sixth-minute opener off Christian Günter set the tone before Kento Shiogai answered in the eighth and struck again on 43 minutes to send VfL Wolfsburg in front at the break. Freiburg kept pressing after halftime, with Vincenzo Grifo slipping in the pass that let Goto level in the 75th minute. Then Philipp Lienhart found him again in stoppage time, and Goto finished from close range to flip the tie. The substitute came off the bench and took player of the match honors, while Wolfsburg spent most of the night chasing and rarely threatening beyond their two goals. Freiburg go into the Round of 16; Wolfsburg’s cup is over.
