Match Report
San Jose struck twice early and then spent most of the night with Real Salt Lake on the ball and the better of the territory. Ousseni Bouda opened it in the 2nd minute, and Benjamin Kikanovic added a second in the 17th after Jamar Ricketts picked him out. Juan Sanabria pulled one back six minutes later, finishing Sam Junqua’s pass, and from there Real Salt Lake carried the play without finding another clear way through. Sanabria still stood out in defeat and was named player of the match. The result leaves San Jose Earthquakes third in the Western Conference on 52 points after 33 games, with Real Salt Lake ninth on 42.
