Match Report

Padova made the most of the few openings in a game Sudtirol had more of the ball in but little to show for it. Gabriele Artistico put Padova in front in the 19th minute, finishing from G. Giunti’s pass, and after that the match settled into a long stretch of possession without much penetration at either end. A. Sorrentino stood out for Padova, and he helped keep Sudtirol at arm’s length whenever they finally worked the ball forward. Then Alessandro Capelli, off the bench, ended it in the 87th minute with Padova’s second. That was the one that stuck. Padova move to eighth in Serie B on 13 points after nine games, with Sudtirol seventh on the same tally, and this one leaves little between them except the result.
