Mikel Goti turned the tie on his way off the bench, then could not quite finish it. Numancia had built a 2-0 lead through Aitor Aranzabe before the hour and Iker León Gutiérrez just after it, but Oviedo answered through Alexandru Ișfan and Goti in the space of two minutes, both off the bench, to level it at 2-2. Jonathan González, also a substitute, put Numancia back in front in the 86th minute, only for Goti to strike again three minutes later and force extra time at 3-3. With no further goals, the shootout settled it 4-2. Numancia survived that last swing and move on; Oviedo’s Copa del Rey run is over.
