Match Report
MVV had more of the ball, but Excelsior kept the game where they wanted it. Stijn van Gasselâs long ball set up Irakli Yegoian for the opener in the 15th minute, and from there MVV were chasing a side that had already shown how little they needed to create. Yegoian added the second from the spot just after the hour, with MVV still finding very little in reply. Aymen Sliti, off the bench, finished it late on with Excelsiorâs third. Van Gassel was the stand-out, and Excelsior left Maastricht with a clean sheet and a result shaped by their goalkeeperâs first-half assist and the goals that followed.
