Club America had the better of it and still left with only a point. Elias Manoel put Club Tijuana ahead at 12' from A. Gómez’s pass, but Miguel Borja answered seven minutes later, finishing Isaias Violante’s ball to level it at 1-1. After that, America kept the ball and kept finding the clearer openings, while Club Tijuana spent much of the rest of the night hanging on and rarely threatening A. Rodríguez’s side of the pitch. Rodríguez earned player of the match for that resistance, and Gómez’s late red card in stoppage time was the final note on a hard-fought draw.
