Match Report
Cesena took the points after Empoli had more of the ball but little to show for it. Cristian Shpendi put Cesena ahead in the 39th minute, turning in Luca D'Andrea’s pass, and Cesena carried the greater threat from there, even with Empoli seeing plenty of possession. Edoardo Saporiti drew Empoli level in the 62nd, but the game swung back Cesena’s way twelve minutes later when Jacopo Seghetti put through his own net. Shpendi was named player of the match after setting the tone in the first half and staying central to Cesena’s edge. Cesena move to ninth on 11 points after nine games, with Empoli 17th on 7.
