Match Report

VfB Stuttgart took the game away from Bayer Leverkusen early. Ermedin Demirović opened it in the 14th minute, Jamie Leweling added a second eight minutes later, and although Patrik Schick pulled one back before the half-hour, Stuttgart kept landing the cleaner blows while Leverkusen had more of the ball and little enough to show for it. Bilal El Khannouss made it 3-1 after the break, Deniz Undav set up Demirović for his second, and Ibrahim Maza’s late finish only trimmed the margin. Demirović was named player of the match after driving the result from the front. Leverkusen stay fourth on 13 points after eight games; Stuttgart move to 11th on 9.
